Google Announces Voice, Video Call Features In Gmail App

Washington: Google has announced that it has added the ability to join Google Chat voice calls and videos from within the Gmail app.

According to MacRumors, it was possible to make calls within the Gmail app on iOS and Android, but users had to send an invitation to the Google Meet video conference, which was very tight and limited.

In the future, however, users will be able to tap new phone and video icons from the top right corner of the individual chat screens in the Google Chat app section.

According to MacRumors, users who start a call from the Google Chat app will now be redirected to the Gmail app, highlighting Google's intention to put the Gmail app in the middle of social media.

The call feature is extended to anyone with Google Workspace, G Suite or personal Google accounts.
