Meta announced the shutdown of more than 1000 accounts tied to cyber mercenary companies accused of spying on activists, and journalists worldwide on behalf of paying clients.
The social media pages were linked to seven firms, with services allegedly. Links reaching from lifting up public information online to using fake personals and to build trust with targets.
They set up fake accounts at social media sites to information from people's profiles. And even conversations, Meta said.
At social networks, is another tactic is to build trust. Then trick the person into clicking on a file that installs software can then steal information.
With that kind of access, the mercenary can steal data from computer, including passwords, photo etc., as well as silently activate microphones, cameras and geo-location tracking, according to the team.
Blue hawk, sells a wide range of following activities, including managing fake accounts to install wicked code, the report said.
