According to a survey, the majority of Muslims in the United Kingdom experience discrimination at work.

According to TRT, a recent survey performed in the United Kingdom found that seven out of ten Muslims employed in the country have experienced at least some type of Islamophobic behaviour at work.

The study was conducted by Hyphen, a new online newspaper that focuses on issues that are relevant to Muslims in the UK and Europe.

Between April 22 and May 10, a total of 1,503 British Muslims were interviewed as part of the research. The demographic data obtained comprised the respondents' age, gender, ethnicity, and geographic location.

Anti-Muslim confrontations were more common among black Muslims than among other Muslims, according to the research. For example, although 37 percent of Muslims said they were discriminated against during recruiting, 58 percent of black Muslims said the same.

Muslims reported the highest discrimination at work, with 42% reporting anti-Muslim discrimination at work events and 40% reporting barriers to professional advancement and promotions.

However, the majority of persons were found to be cheerful. Despite the growth in Islamophobia, more than half of those interviewed indicated their lives had improved overall in the last five years. They also believed that, in comparison to the past, Muslims in the UK were better accepted.

The report stated that, in order to achieve greater equity in society, the government needed to improve its attitude to the BAME (black, Asian, and minority ethnic) populations.
