According to the country's largest media source, Afghanistan's Taliban leaders have ordered all female TV presenters to hide their faces on television.
According to the Tolo news channel, the order came in a statement from the Taliban's virtue and vice ministry, which is in charge of executing the group's orders, as well as the information and culture ministry. The directive was described as "final and non-negotiable" in the statement, according to the broadcaster.
Tolo and several other TV and radio networks are owned by the Moby Group, which issued the statement. It was also being applied to other Afghan media, according to the tweet.
Several female broadcasters and presenters shared pictures on social media of themselves presenting programmes with their faces hidden behind face masks.
