On Wednesday, The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has approved Rs. 265.27 billion for projects to road infrastructure as well as poverty improvement.
A Project worth Rs. 24.96 billion for which the committee approved the project for land acquisition for Lai Expressway & Flood Channel, Rawalpindi. With directions that no expenditure will be incurred till the completion of environment impact assessment (EIA) report and approval of the project from the Board.
Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) will be executing this project. The project predicts the gaining of 750 kanals to provide a clear way for construction of the Lai Nullah.
Expressway and flood channel project which will establish an important part of the network of transport in Rawalpindi, besides and sewage clearance and flood modification.
ECNEC also approved the project for the construction of Ring Road in Rawalpindi city. R3, the main carriageway from Baanth to Thalian amounting to Rs. 23.60 billion. With the condition to get the agreement of the Planning Commission and inclusion of load management in the project.
Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) will complete the project for the construction of six-lane access-controlled Rawalpindi Ring Road, with a length of 38.3 km. The project is finance by Provencal Annual Development Programme.
