Scientific Solution To Plastic Waste Management

Global plastic flows into oceans are expected to 3 times by year 2040. And Pakistan alone produced an estimated 3.9 million tons of plastic waste in 2020. Around 70% of this plastic waste is mismanaged.

UN Development Programme was working on a project to transform Distt.Rahim Yar Khan South Punjab zero plastic waste cities and the same model would be applied in other cities across the country.

It is stress the need for sensitizing general public about the hazardous effects of plastic waste on environment.

Director Communication of The Coca-Cola Foundation’s Sarwari said that her organization was ready to support research projects on recycling and proper plastic waste management.

Chairman of Pakistan Science Foundation Dr Shahid Mahmoud , said that PSF was already working on a series of programmes to sensitizes the hazards of plastic waste.

The number of students from universities of federal capital of Pakistan, whose projects on plastic waste management and recycling were approved.

It a global issue on which the environmental scientists across the globe should join hands and come up with solutions to the hazards of plastic waste and its inadequate disposal.
