Miftah Ismail, the Finance Minister, stated on Thursday that the price of petrol has been increased by Rs30 to Rs209.86, just a few days after the commodity's rate was increased by the same amount.
In a news conference, Ismail announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a Rs30 per litre increase in the price of petrol, diesel, and light diesel, as well as a Rs26.38 per litre increase in the price of kerosene oil, beginning June 3.
Kerosene oil is the only item that is not causing the government to lose money. However, we are losing Rs8 on light diesel, Rs9 on petrol, and Rs23 on high-speed diesel," he explained.
The finance minister confirmed that the lower-income segment of society would be the most influenced by the increase in gasoline prices, but noted that the price of oil has also skyrocketed on the international market.
