02 Jul 2025 By Know Muslim

The Pakistani passport has just seen its biggest leap yet, though the rankings still vary depending on the source. According to the Nomad Passport Index 2025, Pakistan now ranks 195th out of 199 countries, with a Nomad Passport Score of 32. This score takes into account several factors, including visa-free travel access, taxation policies, global perception, dual citizenship rights, and personal freedoms.

Visa-Free Access for Pakistani Passport Holders

Pakistani passport holders have access to 9 to 32 countries without needing a visa, depending on the source. Some of the countries they can visit without a visa include:

  • Caribbean Islands:
    • Dominica (180 days)
    • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
    • Trinidad & Tobago
  • Pacific Islands:
    • Micronesia
    • Vanuatu
    • Cook Islands
    • Niue
    • Montserrat
  • Other Countries:
    • Barbados
    • Gambia
    • Rwanda (some sources mention visa-free, others say visa on arrival or e-Visa)

Visa on Arrival Access

Pakistani passport holders can also access 17 to 34 countries with a visa on arrival, including:

  • African Countries:
    • Madagascar (30-90 days)
    • Uganda (30 days)
    • Kenya (90 days)
    • Comoros (45 days)
    • Guinea-Bissau (90 days)
    • Burundi (30 days)
    • Cape Verde
    • Seychelles (90 days)
    • Somalia (30 days)
    • Timor-Leste (30 days)
    • Togo (7 days)
    • Tuvalu (30 days)
  • Asian Countries:
    • Cambodia (30 days)
    • Maldives (30 days)
    • Nepal (90 days)
    • Qatar (30 days)
    • Samoa (30 days)

Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) and E-Visa Access

Pakistani passport holders also have access to:

  • eTA: Around 3 countries (though specific countries can vary depending on the source)
  • E-Visa Access: Pakistani citizens can apply for an e-Visa to 40 to 53 countries, including:
    • Asian Countries:
      • Sri Lanka (30 days)
      • Tajikistan (45 days)
      • Azerbaijan (30 days)
      • Bahrain
      • Kyrgyzstan
    • African Countries:
      • Zimbabwe
      • Zambia
      • Djibouti
      • Gabon
      • Lesotho (14 days)
      • Rwanda
    • Other Countries:
      • Antigua & Barbuda
      • Saint Kitts and Nevis
      • Malaysia (30 days)
      • Myanmar (28 days)

Why the Differences in Rankings?

It’s important to note that these rankings can differ slightly depending on the source. For example, the Henley Passport Index and the Passport Index may provide different assessments, based on varying methodologies or factors they prioritize. This means that some countries might be included in one source’s list of visa-free access, but not in another’s.

A Changing Landscape

Despite its low global ranking, the Pakistani passport has shown signs of improvement in terms of accessibility to international travel. For many Pakistanis, this jump in access is encouraging, providing more opportunities for business, education, and leisure travel. While it’s still a long way from being among the most powerful passports in the world, every step forward is a positive sign, and it’s clear that Pakistan's global standing is slowly evolving.

So, while the ranking may still be modest, this significant leap is a reminder of the changing landscape and the potential for further improvements in the future.
