KARACHI: HBL PSL7, Quetta Gladiators will face Islamabad United Tonight, Qalandars beats Zalmi, Umpire Faisal Khan Afridi Suspended.

A tough ask for Zalmi made worse as they couldn’t capitalise on Qalandars’ poor fielding in their HBL Pakistan Super League clash. There were five dropped catches as well as a missed chance for a stumping.

With the asking rate climbing in their chase of 200 at the National Stadium, Zaman had left Zalmi reeling when he sent back Hussain Talat and Kamran Akmal on consecutive deliveries to leave them needing 133 in their last 11 overs.

Despite being poor in fielding, Qalandars has managed to pull off an important win to go 2nd on points table winning 2 out of 3 matches.

Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United

Gladiators will be facing United in tonight’s PSL matchday 10 at 7:30 PST. Gladiators won 1 out of 3 matches, sits 4th on the points table. Whereas, United also won 1 while playing 2, sits 3rd on the table. It will be an important encounter for both teams as the winner will go 2nd beating Qalandars on Net run rate. United has already a better Run rate (+0.673) comparing to Qalandars (+0.557) and Quetta (+0.486). On the other hand, Gladiators has to win by a huge margin to go 2nd on the table.

LAHORE: Umpire Faisal Khan Afridi suspended for Covid protocols breach

Faisal Khan Afridi of the PCB Elite Panel of Umpires has been suspended for five HBL Pakistan Super League matches and fined 50 per cent of his match fee for breaching the event’s Health and Safety protocols, an official said on Wednesday.

“The PCB had announced it will follow a zero-tolerance approach towards any Health and Safety breaches. This decision [to suspend Faisal] demonstrates our resolve and commitment to deliver a successful event in which all participants remain secure so that they continue to be available to their sides and entertain millions of fans following this event worldwide,” tournament director Salman Naseer said.

Faisal had pleaded guilty to the charge and offered his regrets.

The decision was made by the PCB Covid Committee, which comprises Salman and Usman Wahla. While making the decision, the committee took into consideration all facts of the incident.
