TEXAS: A Google employee who became known as a harsh opponent of the tech giant's $1 billion monitoring and artificial intelligence deal with the Israeli military confirmed her resignation.

Ariel Koren, a marketing manager for the firm, said that because of her social activism, the company has created a hostile work atmosphere.

"I am leaving @Google this week due to retaliation & hostility against workers who speak out," tweeted Koren. "Google moved my role overseas immediately after I opposed its $1B AI/surveillance contracts with Israel. And this is far from an isolated instance."

When Koren opposed Google's $1.2 billion partnership with Amazon and the Israeli military on a programme named Project Nimbus, the issue got started.

She organised her protest to get Google to back out of the arrangement for more than a year, generating petitions, lobbying officials, and speaking out to news sources.

Koren said that Google ignored her worries and abruptly gave her a choice in November 2021: either accept to move from San Francisco in the US state of California to Sao Paulo, Brazil, or lose your job.
