MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that freedom of expression and artistic freedom does not mean that other religious figures, including the Prophet of Islam, have been licensed for blasphemy.
According to the World News Agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the annual press conference on the importance of artistic expression without hindering religious freedom, said that artistic freedom is important, but it is also important to respect the feelings and sanctities of others.
The Russian president further added that insolence in honor of the Prophet of Islam does not count as freedom of expression. We must avoid hurting others. Hurting someone is a criminal act.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that artistic freedom has its limits and should not infringe on anyone else's freedom. Insulting images of religious figures incite their loved ones to violence.
On this occasion, the Russian President also referred to the publication of blasphemous sketches of the Prophet of Islam on the editorial office of Charlie Hebdo magazine and the consequent attack on the office of the magazine.
President Putin also said that Russia is a multi-ethnic and multi-faith state, so our country respects each other's traditions, but this is not the case in some countries.
